President Irfaan Ali announced that the feasibility assessment for the planned deep-water port in Guyana is scheduled for completion by December. This update follows reports that Chevron Corporation decided against financing the initial research phases for the infrastructure project. Despite the withdrawal of the American oil major, the Guyanese head of state confirmed that interest remains high from other international entities. Specifically, investors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Qatar have expressed potential involvement in the development. President Ali shared these details during his keynote speech at the inauguration of the Caribbean Shipping Association event. The government continues to move forward with the project, aiming to enhance the nation's maritime logistics and trade capabilities through this strategic facility.
