Jimol Murphy, a 33-year-old contractor and driver residing in Vigilance, East Coast Demerara, was formally charged on Thursday. The legal proceedings took place virtually before Magistrate Shareefah Parks at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court. Murphy is accused of involvement in the abduction of two nationals from Suriname who remain missing. During the hearing, the defense attorneys raised significant concerns regarding the duration of the suspects' detention, citing potential constitutional violations and improper conduct by law enforcement officials. The case continues to draw attention due to these allegations of police overreach while the investigation into the disappearance of the two men proceeds.
