Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, has shifted to the second position in the ongoing campaign for the role of UN secretary general. Recent information from Reuters indicates that the diplomat now trails behind the Vice President of Costa Rica following the most recent straw poll conducted by the organization. This development marks a slight change in the standings for the Guyanese official, who remains a key contender in the race to lead the international body. The selection process continues to evolve as member states evaluate the candidates vying for the top administrative position within the United Nations.
